Tower Lane, Bearsted.
Over the many years we've walked around Bearsted the retaining wall at this end of Tower Lane has leant precariously into the road. We've often remarked about the impact that a collapse could bring. Fortunately the owners appear to have done something about it. Firstly cutting back a long stand of trees at the top of the bank, out of shot to the left, now replacing the wall built on some substaintial looking foundations. Mind you, rather than leaving the wall to collapse on its own it was pulled over a couple of months ago and fenced off. Must be a big insurance claim for someone.
Spent the afternoon refereeing at Gravesend rugby club - an enjoyable if blustery game where the ball was blown across the open playing field on one side of the ground. We had it quite lucky down here. Cumbria, particularly Kendel, Keswick and Cockermouth have had it bad again as has the area around Morcambe and Lancaster and also Southern Scotland.
We were in Cockermouth in October, scene of devestation recently, now deluged again. Where we walked alongside the quiet waters of the Derwent in Keswick is now a raging torrent. Our thoughts are with you blippers from all the affected parts and hope you're OK.
