Tiny Visitor

At this time of year, with more windows and doors open, a lot of outdoor creatures come into my kitchen. Some are very unwelcome, but others I don’t mind, like this small hoverfly. It is called the small hoverfly because at 5 or 6mm it is half the size of the usual ones. Melanostoma fasciatum, endemic to New Zealand.
