What a great evening. It's the 6th of December, St Nicholas' night. Alcester, always ready to have a street market and a celebration, bring out the ancient Court Leet and the Morris Men, keep the shops open late and get in a specially brewed beer or two, celebrates this day in particular because the Parish Church is dedicated to St Nicholas.
We paid five pounds each to climb up the church tower and look down on the festive scene. It was wonderful to be out of the hurly burly yet still involved, peaceful but still able to watch all the goings on and hear the local band playing carols beautifully.
Then there were fireworks to conclude the evening ( extra)
