Cusco, Peru

Today we leave Cusco and head south to Arequipa to tackle the Colca Canyon.

We've had a hectic but immensely enjoyable time in Cusco at Wild Rover hostel. We arrived in to a reunion of sorts as we met up with Alan and Duffy again before they headed south and spent the extended weekend partying like we'd never see them again. By the end of it we had a great crew including the Cork girls (of Ecuador fame) also being in Cusco at the same time, Cormac - a hero from Waterford who we met at the hostel, Tom and Mark from Dublin, Conor and Stevie who live in Cusco and we got to know them and the entire Wild Rover staff. The only respite we had was exploring the stunningly beautiful ancient Incan city of Cusco and of course the Inca Jungle trek to Machu Picchu that we did a few days ago.

We also partied pretty hard following the trek with everyone meeting up at Wild Rover the night after we got back, for a big one. Maybe it's the altitude that seems the make the alcohol twice as strong but we're very happy to be leaving the madness of this place today, and we're very grateful to Conor and his company Peru Hop, which is providing the direct bus to Arequipa and then after that onwards towards Bolivia.
