What A Day!
Utter devastation throughout Cumbria! I'm sure you've seen the pictures. Bridges are damaged at Appleby and Pooley Bridge and Braithwaite, the cariageway on Dunmail Raise had broken away and fallen into the river. Rubble and water are making other routes impassible......
My house was still surrounded by water when I got up this morning and the tide mark on the door frame told the truth about just how high the water had been while we slept. We had taped our door as a precaution. We are dry inside and lucky, my thoughts are with blippers who have not been so fortunate. Thanks to those who have kindly asked about how we are.
I needed to get out and away from the house this afternoon as the water was dropping and things were safe. I wanted to go to Rheged to see how our friend Jay had set up a stand with her Homeware and our photography.
For the first time these "gift boxes" are being used at Rheged for display. They lock up at night and open up to display the products. Unfortunately the other one's exhibitor couldn't attend due to road closure. Jay will be here all week, I hope it will get busier as the roads clear, she's new to exhibiting and has done a good job.
BTW: as I write this, after 10pm, my garden is drained of water.
