Everyone you meet on the canals seems relaxed, friendly and polite. Well, almost everyone. So when you encounter rudeness, it seems shocking.

Shortly after photographing this curious lockside storage building, a boat departed from her mooring just ahead of me, causing me to have to slam Marinto reverse to avoid a collision. No wave or gesture of apology.

Still, at least we haven't been shot at, unlike some people at a lock who said they had two boat windows broken by shots in Birmingham.

Probably home tonight.
