Silver Linings
I had a book token to spend this morning, so I went to Bartons Bookshop in Leatherhead. It is so important to support independent booksellers who face competition from Amazon, supermarkets and Kindles. I spent a happy time browsing.
However, I was distracted by the window display and had to find out what it was about. I discovered that it was the result of a competition run by the publisher Macmillan who asked people to create a window display to illustrate the book The Silver Linings Playbook. Bartons was chosen as a window to be dressed because it is so difficult! This was a winning entry, and everything hanging in the window appears in the book. The artist sourced all the items from car boot sales, painted them matt white and hung them on white ribbons. So effective and eye catching.
