Ornamental squashes
We got out rip to Macknades after all (see yesterday) but not for lunch. Friends Al and Liz were over for the day, first time since August as many events and illnesses have caused dates to be postponed.
Great to see them both again and to plan some activities for next year. Liz likes Macknades and it's always an interesting place to go as alongside ordinary fruit and veg are numerous exotic varieties (such as these squashes), a deli, butchers and row upon row of displays of foods and gifts for Christmas. It's the foodie equivalent of Ikea, you come out with a pile of stuff you didn't know you wanted but liked the look of!
In between the visit to Macknades we squeezed in a bit of eating - soup and cheese for lunch, scones and tea when we got back, chicken kashmiri followed by apple strusel for dinner. All very pleasant indeed.
