Xmas Wreath Making
As promised, here's a section of the xmas wreath I made today. My friends and I had a great two hours making these at a session run by the Parks Trust in Milton Keynes. For the £15 fee they provided the teaching, tea and biscuits and all the materials we needed. The full wreath is shown in the extra.
For those of you who'd like to give it a go, we used two stems of dogwood stripped of branches. These were put facing each other such that the short ends overlapped. Then they were taped together with masking tape to form one long branch of roughly the same thickness throughout. This was twisted into a circle and the overlapping ends were taped together, Then hay was tied with invisible thread to this frame on the facing side to form a base. This was covered with yew pieces again tied on with the thread. Finally the base was dressed with berries, ivy, holly, hebe, teasels etc.
It was certainly great fun and we might do it again next year. Now I need to put the rest of my decorations up today!
