Another beautiful day in Plockton

After a fairly good nights sleep we had a tasty breakfast, porridge and then smoked haddock for me with lots of tea and toast.
We had finished before sunrise which was around 9 o clock so we paid and left our bags behind the desk and went out for another walk. The sun had risen above the mountain although had nt quite reached the village. It was frosty but with no wind it did nt feel too cold. The tide was completely in and lapping against the walls of the private gardens that run the length of the Village. Behind the houses the gardens climb up the bank and some have been terraced with one belonging to Calum who runs the seal trips and webcam which even has the old buoy and a phonebox at the top.
We walked around the headland of Rubha Mor which was entered through a gate next to a cattle grid and marked Private. Visitors are welcome as long as they do nt go past the  big house. A fantastic walk along stoned pathways with views to the Cuillin on Skye and past small lochans covered in ice. The trees and bushes were full of birds and interesting plants lined the paths. Further on we could see Eilean- a- Chait  where the old Plockton lighthouse stands. It was built around 1880. As the small cottage built on to the lighthouse was only big enough for one person the lighthouse keepers family lived in a cottage on the nearby island of Eilean-an-Duine. When the tide is low it is possible to walk to the Islands. The lighthouse was de-activated during the 1920's both the buildings are privately owned. You can see it in the photo with the Applecross Mountains with  a sprinkle of snow.
A walk back past the Proposal point and time for coffee before our lift by the hotel owner back to the station for our journey home.
A great couple of days , now time to get ready for the Christmas rush !
