Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning.
As the morning sky turned to a pale mauve hue, the outdoor thermometer registered 12 degrees at 8a.m. Is it really Christmas next week preceded by winter solstice? And will the days become longer before we have experienced a proper cold spell?
