Cologne Cathedral and Christmas Market

Today we experienced the famous Cologne Cathedral and its adjacent Christmas Market.

20 years ago, we had been to the front of the cathedral, very briefly, with no opportunity to go inside; today we enjoyed the interior of this fantastic and historic building, which was built over a period of 700 years.

As you can see in the bottom of the photo, the Christmas Market with 150 stalls was right next door.

The first extra photo today is the front entrance to the Cathedral, showing you a small glimpse of the intricate stonework, and the second is an overview of the whole cathedral taken from the rear while standing on the banks of the River Rhine.
