Carols..

by candle light.  This is a service I really enjoy. Nine lessons and carols with a packed church totally illuminated by candles and it looks just lovely!  Hearty singing since most of the village had been to the pre carol service party which filled them with mulled wine and mince pies.. fun fun!

I dropped in on a neighbour today to deliver a small Christmas gift to find she was in quite a state.. she is bipolar and has hit a low in the last week. I didn't know she was so down and feel pleased that she was able to answer the door to me (usually she doesn't if down). I stayed for a cup of tea and we chatted (and she wept) and we managed a laugh.. when I left she was less tearful which was good but I urge any of you to visit friends who may suffer this way.  She has no family and as the result has no joy in Christmas.. she refuses to join any families who invite her as it seems to compound the unhappiness that lurks beneath.  The Christmas break of a whole week must seem like forever for her.. certainly when she is feeling so low.  My heart goes out to those who are alone and sad at this time..
