Gaylord's Christmas Message

Dear Diary,

It has been a turbulent year and many have been consumed by fear.  Gaylord is reaching back to 1939 in England for his Christmas message.  This phrase was put on motivational posters to rally the populous at a very dangerous and scary time for the British people.  We could all use a bit of calm now.

And a bit of light as well.  Yesterday, a good friend died.  My dear auntie died on the Solstice as well back in 1999.  As a contemplative photographer, I searched for an image that would somehow fit the somber day and my extra is the one I found.  My paper whites are just starting to bloom and the lovely back light made them seem to glow.  My cousin, my aunt's' daughter, gave them to me for a Christmas present a few weeks ago when we all got together for our annual Cousins Gathering.  Today I find them a great comfort.

So, today is a day of thankfulness and hope.  Today the daylight hours will begin to expand...we have turned the corner.  I am thankful for the years of friendship I had with her, the joy Gaylord brings into my life every day and the promise the paper whites hold and I will keep calm and carry on...it is all any of us can do.
