Plus ça change...

Neighbours

A fairly typical Christmas Day around here. Not too early a start (thanks to the power of Apple devices keeping the kids entertained and quiet), then breakfast, port, presents, walk, dinner, and an afternoon/evening of grazing, TV and slothfulness.

One unusual interlude was starting the turkey cooking at 9am, with a sizzle in the top oven and then the very specific "3-6 hours" in the bottom oven. That did at least give time for all the trimmings, including giblet gravy with sherry and elderberry port. (Which substituted well for yesterday's missing Marsala.)

The snow started at about 3 pm here, and the kids are pressing their noses against the window every ten minutes to see if it continues to fall... Though it is fun, for the sake of family travel plans, I hope it has stopped.

With Christmas dinner cooked, I now have literally nothing to do until the 28th. I couldn't be happier. I may even have time to think properly about how much I can pledge to blip; and I hope you all have time for that too.

Peace and goodwill to you all, whether you're celebrating today or not.
