Reflections on water.

Water, like many things in nature, can be both very beautiful and very cruel. For many thousands in the north of England the last two weeks will be remembered as ones which have brought misery and despair. They have also shown the strength and generosity of the human spirit.

I have walked the paths and lanes around Arnside every day for several years. Never have I seen so much standing water. There are dozens of lakes and pools where so recently sheep could safely graze. We are fortunate in that we have no property damage. And we are lucky that now that we have a mild sunny day we are able to enjoy the beauty of all that water.
