Start With The Best

... and then get even better. By that I mean we began today's mini-tour of Portsmouth and Southsea with my favourite thing in Portsmouth - the magnificent H.M.S. Victory. How I love this ship! From the Dockyard we walked through Gunwharf Quays and then into Old Portsmouth to the Round Tower and a fantastic walk along the sea-front to Clarence Pier, getting drenched several times by the high waves which swept over the sea-walls and onto the promenade. Such fun!

At Clarence Pier, we ate some delicious fish and chips and played some arcade games. Then we enjoyed watching the hovercraft arrive in Southsea and then got drenched again as we watched it depart for Ryde. I never fail to get a thrill out of watching the hovercraft.

Another walk along the promenade to South Parade Pier, taking in Southsea Castle, the Blue Reef Aquarium, the D-Day Museum and The Pyramids Centre along the way.

Oh yes, the best just got better.
