An Amazing Day at the Highland Wildlife Park

The forecast was good for today so we took a chance and hoped it was right so after dropping David at work we travelled down to The Highland Wildlife Park through snow covered scenery. We arrived just after opening time and had a fantastic day watching all the animals having fun in the sun and snow.
We met one of the Keepers when we arrived and he told us that the animals love weather like this and he was right.
The Artic foxes were active and the females coat was white as it changes colour in the Winter months. It was a good job that there was a fence between the  Snow leopard and the Himalayan Tahr as one would have become dinner s the leopard stalked and pounced. The snow leopards are new to the Park and wonderful to see.
Back down to the café for a bacon roll and cup of tea and we spent ages watching the Snow Monkeys. Amazing how much Character they all have. Even the tiniest monkey was collecting pieces of carrot at feeding time. We could have spent all day there and did return later for another look and a Hot Chocolate in the sun :)
The Lynx were another favourite. The three triplets born earlier this year were playing together just like domestic cats, so beautiful.
The female Polar Bear was so well camouflaged it took us a while to spot her. Mind you she did have her head in a bucket too and was more of a brown colour. The two Males however were much whiter and in a different pen, away from the female as they would only meet in the wild to breed.
We drove round the reserve at sunset with the deer chasing each other around like mad.
The drive back home was beautiful too with a pink sky as the sunset completely.
Oh and the moon this morning was enormous.
