Counter-cultural

Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping Vigil till the morning new
Saw the glory, heard the story, Tidings of a Gospel true.
Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow, Praised voicing, greet the morrow:
Christ the child was born for you! Christ the child was born for you!

Because Christmas starts about Hallowe'en, by the time it gets to the 25th December everyone has had enough!   So most things stop dead.  Traditionally, Christmas season began on Christmas Day and lasted until Twelfth Night.... the narrative ends with the arrival of the Kings.

I've always liked to celebrate Christmas during the twelve days - but it's pretty difficult against the tide.
