Sausage Picnic 2015
Our extended family has a picnic every Boxing Day at which fires are made and sausages are cooked and eaten. This happens even in snow-storms and rain, neither of which occurred this year!
The picture shows members of the Clark, Clothier, and Morland branches of the family, the furthest relationship being fifth cousins, I think, plus in-laws and friends, round three fires, on a hillside near Street.
In theory the sausages are speared on to sticks and held over hot coals; in practice, most of us used frying pans! They are accompanied by bread and whatever else is fancied.
A "first" for this year was the large folding table that may be seen near the top fire; this was much sniffed at by people who nevertheless then used it to keep food off the ground and out of reach of hungry dogs!
