Nanxi River

After the late film festival of last night and the jet lag that saw us all awake and 2am and impossibly sleepy at 7am (our wake up call) we were on our way to this area of 'natural beauty' - one that the local government are working hard to encourage visitors to.

As international guests we taking part in a conference to discuss the role of national parks in the United Kingdom and how to balance preserving  nature with the needs of the visitors, who bring such economic benefit to the area. Mostly delivered in Chinese (although with translators) it was fascinating although Sienna was an eight year old star for sitting through three hours of it! 

The rest of the day was followed by one amazing meal by another (the food was a definite highlight of the trip) and some serious drinking challenges from the local government officials aimed at the men of the group. It was impressive if that is the sort of thing one should be impressed by!

Yes that is Sienna in the forefront in her orange t.shirt that we all had to wear - definitely not a highlight of the trip - wearing orange t.shirts that is - and in Chinese sizes - let's just say the English extra large men with us aren't even Chinese extra extra large!
