Whoosh
Quite pleased to have my shopping done before high tide today.
The power went out around 3:15 am but was back before breakfast. I have tomorrow's dinner slow cooking in the Aga and the house smells divine. Going to make the pasta next, and a Panna Cotta tomorrow morning. By the time that dinner comes around I should be cool, calm and collected and fully able to enjoy our anniversary. The wind forecast is better for tomorrow so I have every hope of being able to heat things up.
Happy memories of our first wedding anniversary, living 1,500 metres up, with a gale blowing and snow piling four feet up against the house. Anniversary dinner was in candlelight, the power going down exactly at the point when I finished cooking. Too close for comfort.
That was a bad night for others but we were oblivious to the drama going on elsewhere in the village.
The next three days were pretty grim however, with no electricity and thus no water either. "Luckily" we had plenty of snow to thaw for flushing the toilet. Unluckily the house was not really warm enough to do any thawing.
It will never happen here - we have a different kind of adventure on our wee island.
