What a difference a day makes
At this time of year other people often have a snow plough past their homes. Not us, we have been seaweed-ploughed.
Much calmer today, but colder. We went out to see what had washed up but there is too much kelp to be able to climb down to the beach with safety. We did have a seal for company, that was nice. There are humpack whales feeding just off the big island, we hope they may come this way but were certainly not to be seen out here just now.
Our wedding anniversary today and dinner is well in hand. I made fresh pappardelle pasta and a wild boar ragu yesterday. One requires reheating, the other a three minute boil. An improvised salad (due to the lack of boats there was no fresh salad to be had) of courgette ribbons, fennel, black olives and artichoke hearts will go well. There is Chicken Liver Pate to start and a Panna Cotta for dessert is currently setting (I hope!) in the fridge. I made a honeyed version, flavoured with Arome de Panettone for a seasonal flourish. There are poached pears and lemon crisp biscuits to serve with that.
We shall be in bed before the bells but I doubt that our version of this holiday will be any the worse for that.
Have a good one. See you next year.
