More nostalgia

For various reasons I have been on a serious nostalgia trip the last few days and spending much to much time on the past than the present. Todays email from my 1973 girlfriend Annie sent me in to hyper mode and  I lost many hours getting confused between years and days.

Well I suppose it does make the dream of a rescued Blip even more important now that more of my 1970's life is documented there. I think I have written it before and probably it's in my profile. One of the original main attractions of Blip for me was the communication with my children who through it now know more about what I am up to than my own wife. At first I was a "freeloader" then I purchased membership and was then blessed with life membership by my (ex) brother in law when the Polarid/Blip takeover was splashing out aspirins. This was a great opportunity for me to document my early life so that my children knew exactly what/who has caused them to fight off some weird DNAs in their systems.

I wanted though to catch up on Blip so that I was prepared for the special Blip day on 1st Jan. and am now busy clearing out and making room. This shot is of some of the Christmas cards - nostalgia again. Who still sends cards nowadays? Every year I make the vow that I will the next year, especially as I delight in every single one that pops through the letter box.

Well the rather over the top example from the " B's" didn't fit the postbox but still. Every year the first one to arrive is from Vienna, an ex boss, the guy who fired me 17 days after I started on the books here in Germany. Not his fault (no Liverpudlian would do such a thing on his own accord) and we have alwas maintained contact in some form even if only an occasionally Tweet and despite him being about as far up the Austrian industrial leader ladder as it is poosible to go.

Then the wonderful self printed photographic card from brother in law Bliper PurbeckDavid49. Then the grandchildrens increasingly complex cards reflecting their mothers talents, true treasures for me. Of course a meaningful card from daughter Kate and the opposite from her brother who somehow manages to find them ..... you may spot a card showing a young boy who got exactly what he asked for, for Christmas.

Always just at the last minute arrives our ex coinhabitants Sascha & Katja colourful and appropriate "horsey" own photo card and just when you thought the postman was getting back in the van, the most elaborate of all . another ex boss from the 90's, Tino and his family now in Florida. Like me Tino is of German/Anglo Saxon sorry American parents, married to a German Silke and with three wonderful children all of whom have been here and hopefuly will again in 2016. His card always contains a Newsletter and a good read, This year I was shocked by the photographs - he doesn't have children any more....they are young adults. Frightening, the wedding and the youngest daughters birth was yesterday ... I'm sure it was!

Will have to do some more digging in the shoe boxes and dig out the old photos to Blip and increase my Blip nostalgia.

THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING THE EFFORT, YEAR AFTER YEAR. IT IS REALLY APPRECIATED AND TREASURED. (I have the old cards in more shoe boxes)
