A Bird in the Hand . . .

You know the rest of the saying.
It's a Grey Jay --more commonly known as a camp robber. These charming birds can easily be enticed to land on your hand or head if there's snack food there. It must be learned behavior -- passed down from generation to generation -- and now common throughout the mountain west. I find it to be delightful to feel their tiny sharp toes holding on to my fingers.
