Brian the Snail.

We made our first visit to The Red House Glass Cone in May. In fact I made it the subject of my blip on the 13th of that month.

The whole visit was very enjoyable (and educational). As well as the glass-blowing demonstration in the cone itself there was a small museum and bookshop and a café. There were also several separate studios where different types of art were practised with the end products available for sale.

However, what caught V's eye was a ceramic snail. It was the subject of a lottery in as much as the artist had named it and for a £1 ticket one could make a guess at its name. When the sales had reached £75 the ticket bearing the correct name won the snail.

Of course, that wasn't good enough for V, she had to have one for herself. Consequently she commissioned the artist, Saz, to make her one and call it Brian. V was able to stipulate the pattern/colours of the shell and body. I don't know where she got the inspiration for the name from.

We picked it up this morning and V is thrilled to bits with it. Apparently it is going to share the lounge with us.
