The Glynde Butterflies

I was asked to take some photographs for a magazine piece on stoolball - a traditional Sussex sport believed to date from the 13th century and to be the origins of modern baseball. I spent a very interesting morning with the former president of Stoolball England going through the archives and memorabilia. Many of the Sussex teams gave themselves plant or insect names like the Chailey Grasshoppers, Selmeston Harvest Bugs, Firle Blues and my favourites, the Glynde Butterflies.
