Flood barriers
What a day!
Today was the first day back at work since 24th December, so I had tons of catching up to do. The local radio station repeatedly issued flood warnings for the area around the River Wey, so it was decided to erect the flood barriers around the office...just in case. The office flooded to a depth of 22 inches on 24th December 2013, so we are fully aware of how quickly that water level can rise. Further rain is forecast overnight, so we have taken the precaution of installing the flood barriers to the ground floor doors...this is just 2 of the 5 barriers by the front door. Everyone was asked to leave the building so that the remaining 3 barriers could be “topped off”. We also raised electrical items from the floor/removed important papers from lower desk drawers – just in case.
My boy headed back to Loughborough with 2 bikes strapped to the back of his little Fiat 500, on the new bike rack we gave him for his birthday. Even though he’s a quiet lad, the house still felt a little empty with him.
The exciting news is that Mr A and I have joined the nearby Surrey Sports Park – the first time we have ever joined a gym TOGETHER. Yes, I realise we are like umpteen other couples of a certain age who will join a gym in the New Year...but I do hope we can stick it out. With luck, having Mr A going along too will encourage me to keep going. To ensure a good start I have already booked my Gym Induction, an Aqua Fit class and a Fit Steps class. Watch this space...
