Brave Blue Damsel
Calopteryx splendens; the Banded Demoiselle.
This handsome lad was flitting around the nettles on the bank of the river Lugg in Mordiford this evening.
I fancied a wander along a river after work and wanted to have a look at the amount of debris the recent high water had left (that pic is the Wye at the confluence with the Lugg). One can see the dried mud on the leaves of the Alder and Willow along the banks.
I spotted this communal cocoon and I don't know what they are but that worries me not because I saw a Kingfisher. A Kingfisher!
Joyous!
