Or, possibly, revealed sign. which recently appeared above Lindsay and Gilmour pharmacy.
So far I have no detail about the two companies (nor the full surname of the Duncan McC...) but the Post Office directories covering the years 1937 to 1942 all indicate E & J Butler as having a Ladies and Children's Outfitter business in Bruntsfield Place, so may be the Gentlemen's Department or a more recent move.
