Acoma Pueblo

This view is looking down from Acoma Pueblo.The pueblo is located 60 miles west of Albuquerque. It is situated on a 365 foot mesa. The pueblo has been inhabited for over 800 years and has a rich history. During the Acoma Massacre, Juan de Onate amputated the right foot of all men over 25 years of age. Today in Albuquerque the foot of a statue of Onate is often found with it's foot cut off.
