Don't mention the weather!
I'm going to try very hard to write about today without going on about the fact that it's been grey and gloomy and is now peeing down again.
Nope. Can't do it.
This is too much now. EVERYTHING is being affected by this wetness, this bad light, the muddy ground. The shop hasn't been as busy as it should have been, we haven't enjoyed the garden as much as we usually would, the gloom makes it feel like a different season, there are too many slugs and snails munching through my lupins and our veggie seedlings (I did go around all the seedlings with my kindly hippie slug-stopper granules earlier, but I expect that'll get washed away), a whole plethora of school activities have had to be post-poned, cancelled or re-thought, the lower light level is making me feel sleepy, and my photos my photos my photos... :o(
Bah! Meh! PLTHTHTHTHTHTH! at that stupid jetstream!!!!!
I wonder if the whole of the UK stood along the south coast, facing north and roared upwards whether we could get those rainclouds to move away...
Or, better still we could face South and get some rain over the drought-ridden parts of Africa. It seems ludicrous that we should have more than we need whilst others are dying because of lack of it.
(Another reason why I'll never be religious)
Perhaps Kate Bush could go with them.
We did our Putsborough walk again and I stared up at the sky with my eyes wide open trying to get some light into my brain.
Then this afternoon I made some rather crappy scarecrows for the veg beds because if it's not slugs or cats it's bloody pigeons digging up and munching stuff now.
Gardening is like war!
Nice war with less blood and a far better outcome and no bombs mind you.
And cheaper.
Oh, and you can choose what to wear.
Oh, and you don't have to leave your family for months.
Oh, and you don't get shot at.
But otherwise, pretty similar.
Tess had a sleepover at her school last night and came home knackerooned this afternoon. Apparently someone was snoring and she couldn't sleep. If she's anything like me she wouldn't have slept anyway. I'm an incredibly light sleeper, especially in unfamiliar surroundings. She had an early tea and willingly went to bed at 5pm and fell asleep immediately.
Wanted to write a flash-fiction today but didn't give myself an opportunity.
Ah well...
