Titanic Hotel

Meeting up with friends on Monday in Liverpool, we decided that it was ridiculous that we had not been to the city since last January. So we went again today - and had a really good time. There was even a lot of blue sky this morning.

We visited the Titanic Hotel which opened in 2014 - a good coffee stop. It is a fantastic conversion of a grade 2* listed 1848 warehouse designed by Jesse Hartley (of Albert Dock fame). It won best regeneration project in last years RTPI NW awards, well deserved. It really is impressive.

The view as we had our coffee across Stanley Dock was stunning - the derelict Tobacco Warehouse, built in 1901 and the largest brick warehouse in the world (reputedly). If the leap of faith which has made the Titanic a success can be repeated with this building, it would be fantastic.

Stanley Dock has access to the Leeds and Liverpool to the east, and the Mersey to the west. Lots of cities would kill for this kind of opportunity. Liverpool almost has too many of them for its own good !

Extra - an internal view (the spaces inside are too big to do justice to really)
