Sunset over the River Cam

A gorgeous day today with sunshine and no rain - hopefully the flooded rivers can get a chance to subside a little.

Today we took Adam back to Cambridge for start of Lent term. We all decided to go as it was a lovely day for an outing. While it is very convenient having accommodation provided in the college halls of residence for all four years of his degree, and therefore not having to find a student house and deal with those dodgy landlords, it is very inconvenient for us parents as he has to clear his room every term and so all his stuff (clothes, books, bedding, kettle, pots, pans, iron, ironing board....everything except the kitchen sink!) has to come home, which means he cannot come home by train, and as they are not allowed cars at university we will be doing this trip at the beginning and end of every term for the next four years! Good thing it is not too far from home.

We helped him unpack and then went to have lunch in town - on the way back the sun was already so low in the sky, and this is the scene of Jesus Green and the River Cam on a Sunday afternoon that I saw as we drove past.
