Down the alley

Down the alley between Boots and the High Street, something is happening. A fire and rescue vehicle has just roared up the street, sirens blaring, and a bunch of people have been assembled around the exit of the alley. A fire fighter with a cylinder on his back stands impassive.

No one else has a clue what's going on.

I hope it wasn't serious. It didn't seem to be, apart from the screeching-siren moment.
