Washhouse, Erbonne
Backblipped for 22nd
We drove up into the mountains near the Swiss border to a tiny village called Erbonne. Here the scenery is very different from the forests of the lower slopes, there are meadows, with haymaking in progress, turned by hand. I spotted a lone specimen of Lesser Butterfly Orchid, my first.
Outside the village (where we parked, as cars are not allowed) we stood and watched bees and a big loud-buzzy insect collecting nectar from a stand of Viper's Bugloss.
The village has one of the last old public washhouses, with a typical roof of local stone slabs.
