That Will Do!

Backblipped for 23rd

We went to Cernobbio, looking for a post office and finding a fruit market as well, then continued to Como. Here the wind was quite strong, making waves on the southern lakeshore and blowing the fountains about; eventually black clouds and a rumble of thunder threatened a downpour and sent us scurrying back to the car.

After dinner we were told of a firework display, easily seen from a few metres down the road - people came from all over, parking cars along the narrow road. We couldn't work out where they were set off, there was a gap in the display (when many people left), then the fireworks resumed. The reason, as I understand it, was a celebration of the defeat of Barbarossa by the Lombardians in the C12.

We wandered back up to the hotel, accompanied by fireflies shedding their tiny lights in support of the occasion.
