We had a visit today from Jim, who works for a charity called BID. They provide services to people with visual impairments and he came to see if Mum has all the aids she needs.

He was very helpful. At his next visit he will bring some aids for her to try out. These include amber tinted spectacles to help her see more clearly where there are steps or other hazards to negotiate.

During the discussion about using the remote control, he wondered if we knew why there are tiny raised areas on the number 5. I had never noticed this. It is always on 5 - look at your mobile or keyboard to check. If you can't see very well you can always know which button is 5 and work out the rest. (On the computer keyboard the letters J and F have the same.)

This morning I enjoyed supermarket shopping because it was sunny, clear and fine.
