Water from the western suburbs
We pass this little river on the drive to town, out of all the rivers, it's always been the one with water in it, but then it always has a rather unhealthy accumulation of foam on it too. Today's was rather spectacular. We pondered about what this could be and decided that due to the rains people must be out doing their washing in force.... In reality, this river runs from the Western suburbs, a high-density housing area that has issues with sewage and water management, so let's not actually ponder about the river.
After a morning of trying to sort out what, in the UK is a routine medical test, that nearly culminated in a last minute dash to Johannesburg (no longer required, we've found the same test in town), I sought a hug from my husband for moral support. What neither of us knew at the time was that a wasp had decided to crawl under my t-shirt onto my shoulder. As my husband put his arms around my shoulders, instead of the comfort I wanted, I howled in pain and have had a bright red, aching, shoulder for the rest of the day. He will probably understand if I'm a little reticent to get close to him for the next couple of days. He did, at least kill the offending wasp when we realised what had happened.
