Tree Ferns

Wanaka to Fox Glacier. We visited certain approved beauty spots on the way (approved by Catriona and Diane) which included Thinder Creek, Roaring Billy and the Blue Pools. A lot reminded of Scotland and a lot reminded us we weren't in Scotland - the heights of the mountains, the sweeping glaciated valleys and river valleys, the temperature of the water in the swimmable rivers and the tree ferns that lined the paths through the forests/bush.
Our arrival in Fox Glacier was spectacular with fabulous views over the mountains and up the glacier topped valleys. Helicopters buzzed continuously overhead and all was looking good for a flight in the morning. We shall see.
