Tahi, Rua, Toru,
Three pukeko chicks appeared today. There were five one day but whether that is the same family or whether two have not survived I will probably never know.
Two have grown and were happily wandering between the parents but one is still very small and didn't move except when fed.
The whole family kept feeding even when a man and dog approached and talked to me. When I first arrived mum had run up the creek in my direction but realised I was no danger on the bridge.
A duck came swimming along making a lot of noise too but it took no notice of the pukekos and they didn't seem worried by it. It was demanding bread from me I think but I think they get far too much bread.
