Beyond the Aire
River Aire 16
At last a beautiful winters' day. What we've all been waiting for.
Blue, blue skies, sun, frost, ice and snow on the distant fells.
It's just over a year since I started my One River series on the River Aire and whilst this shot isn't obviously the river you can see the Aire Valley bypass in the bottom right of this shot surrounded by the Aire flood plain. The Aire gap heads on towards the Yorkshire Dales and fells.
Here you can clearly see the outline of Ingleborough, Yorkshire's most renowned fell, on the left of the horizon.
I took these on a brief shopping trip to Keighley this morning where the view opens up above Keighley as we climb over Harden Spring.
We took a slight detour on the way back and stopped again to look at the distant hills with a sprinkling of snow beyond Oxenhope and the valley of the River Worth.
Both of these rivers have caused flooding in the last few weeks which is why we are all so pleased to see the back of the rain even if it does mean plummeting temperatures.
Have a happy and warm ( if you are in the northern hemisphere) weekend everyone.
Not much activity on the pledge front recently. You can still pledge! I know some of you are still thinking about it. Time for action - see the pink strip above this blip.
