Hay making

The cattle in the extra photos are Speckled (or Spotted) Park.  A new breed of cattle, bred in Canada.  This is the first time  I have ever heard of them and don't know how they came to be in New Zealand.  They are very friendly and gentle and inquisitive.  The farmer pointed out that the black nose is a trait of the breed which, because they are mostly white, is quite unusual.
