Let it snow

Do you know, I can't remember the last time I read a novel (apart from re-reading all of Iain M Banks' sic-fi books, last year). However, at Christmas, when I was buying 'The Man In The High Castle' for Dan, I bought myself a copy of 'Fatherland' by Robert Harris. Maybe it's because my new spectacles have made reading more comfortable but I spent the whole morning with my nose in the book, which was lovely.

We'd agreed we'd do a longish walk today and just as we were leaving, this afternoon, it started to snow: tiny, near solitary, almost imperceptible blossom-like fragments drifting through the air over Chorley. By the time we'd reached the canal, though, it looked a bit more serious and after a couple of miles it was just as you can see it in the photo.

Whilst it was easy enough walking along the towpath, we started to be a bit more cautious when we left the canal near Fredericks and walked back into town on the smooth pavement. We were, by then, in exactly the right frame of mind for a hot chocolate so we went to see Mike and Sarah at Bees' Country Kitchen in Chorley Market, who delivered the goods. Bliss.

And then it was back home, with six miles under our belts, for a nap and a bit more reading followed by couple more hours' work on my David Bowie playlist for this week's Electronic Ears.
