90th birthday

It was Assunta's 90th birthday yesterday. Tonight we celebrated with a meal at a local Italian restaurant.

It was snowing. I knew she wouldn't want to go for that reason,. But my brother in law talked her round and she had a great time. She loved the food too. (She can be hypercritical of Italian food, being an Italian herself.)

Don't know what happened to the cake after we gave it to the restaurant. It had 90th in pink, not brown when we gave it them. She didn't mind!

Although the restaurant was very busy with lots of parties, when the cake was brought to the table, she got a massive round of applause from all our fellow diners, which made her cry (in a good way). She received a few compliments from another table as she left, ' you look amazing for 90!' and some 'happy birthday's.
