Mono Monday: Tradition

This is my living room fireplace. The wooden mantelpiece was installed about 15 years ago to replace a large, beige 1930s glazed tile concoction. The cast iron fire surround with ornate tiles was installed at the same time. However, the fire guard was a wedding present to my grandparents in about 1926. It's possibly mahogany, with a beautifully painted pair of peacocks onto black velvet. Underneath you can also see an old earthenware hot water bottle plus two old brass pots. This is my contribution to Mono-Monday: Tradition.

Thought for the day:
Sometimes we need someone to simply be there. Not to fix anything or to do anything in particular, but just to let us feel that we are cared for and supported.
