Lights in the dusk
I sometimes wonder if one of the reasons I'm such a fan of Scandi Noir movies is that they make Dunoon in winter seem positively cheery ... Today was pretty hideous, with wet sleet falling all morning and wetter rain all afternoon, while the temperature remained low enough to ensure that the lying snow turned to slush only very slowly. However, as we headed back along the East Bay after a shopping trip to the dentist's surgery (yes, I do mean that - they sell the best range in town of floss and inter-dental brushes) I thought that the lights shining on the wet road and gilding the railings between us and the high tide made for a slightly cheerier aspect.
You can make out the snowy hillside just above the town, and the top of the square tower of the High Kirk behind the pier.
