Attack of the Pukekos
Well, the rain has finally stopped and the sun has come out.
As we are now in Motueka, along the coast from Nelson, we decided to take the 'great taste of Tasman' trail out to the coast. We walked through citrus groves, past kiwi fruit and apple orchards, stopping along the way to buy some raspberries for after supper.
As we walked by some fields l noticed (and heard) groups of Pukeko, my fav bird. I stopped to take a photo of them and much to my astonishment they came rushing at me, through the ditch and the water, making a terrific noise. They must have had nests nearby. I beat a hasty retreat and continued with our walk along the desolate beach and back into town, stopping only for a hockey pockey ice cream
