A load of rubbish

In case it had escaped your notice (or live in a far off land) it has been raining a bit recently. There have been lots of photographs posted on the internet today of flooding around Edinburgh (the "Taste Edinburgh" festival in the meadows had to be cancelled).

There has been a major construction going on for many months all along the Water of Leith to build new flood defences, it does not sound as if they are working yet as reports appeared on the internet of major flooding (especially in the Stockbridge area). Flooding isn't so much of a problem down here near the Shore as the river opens up and flows into the docks (although I don't know about cellars).

The water level WAS high when I checked it out this evening although the rain had stopped and it did not look as if it was in danger of flooding The Shore. But one problem we always get down at the Shore is rubbish floating down stream, I was actually surprised it wasn't worse than pictured above, although it looks calm there was a current and a lot of flotsam going past (perhaps the worst of it had already floated into the docks).
