Back in the West End on a day when the light is good. I am happy.

I saw early morning at the Barnes Wetland Centre which felt slightly like being in the Masons. Men in green wooly hats kept coming up to me and saying "The Bitterns are presenting well this morning".

The only possible answer to this was "Uh huh"

It turns out these birds are quite rare and "presenting well" means easy to see. You learn something new every day.

At the end of my stint I walked back to the entrance where a man in an anorak asked me "any word of the Bitterns", which enabled me to remark on how well they were presenting.
